About Us

The event that marked the beginning of the International Symposium on the Empowerment of Women and the Family was held on December 13–14, 2023, hosted by Yalova University under the title “1st National Symposium on the Empowerment of Women and the Family." The symposium provided a multidisciplinary scientific platform where current issues related to the empowerment of women and the family were discussed, bringing together academic contributions from fields such as economics, law, health, sociology, social work, and communication. Within the scope of the event, nearly 80 paper submissions were received through the contributions of universities, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, and independent researchers; 72 papers were accepted and 69 were presented. The symposium was carried out through the collaboration of various institutions and stakeholders, contributing to the promotion of academic production focused on women and the family, as well as to the strengthening of interdisciplinary interaction.

Following this process, the International Women's Studies Conference, hosted by Fırat University on October 16–18, 2024, was held as an important academic platform where current issues faced by women in social, economic, political, and cultural spheres were discussed and innovative approaches were explored. A total of 171 participants from 57 universities and 7 different institutions attended the event, where solution-oriented approaches, best practices, and interdisciplinary perspectives on the empowerment of women were shared. Coordinated by the Women and Family Studies Application and Research Center of Fırat University and carried out in collaboration with women's studies centers from various universities, the conference made significant contributions to academic work in the field of women and family studies.

The second International Symposium on the Empowerment of Women and the Family was held on October 22–24, 2025, hosted by Düzce University. The symposium brought together academics, researchers, and practitioners from different disciplines, providing a multidimensional platform for discussion on the empowerment of women and the family. Within the scope of the event, participants from 10 different countries and 40 cities across Türkiye took part; 143 papers were presented (58 of which were online), and 4 invited speakers contributed to the program. In addition, with the contributions of 108 members of the scientific committee representing 40 universities from 22 countries, international academic collaboration was further strengthened. The symposium addressed a wide range of topics including the transformation of family structures, digitalization, women's leadership, social equality, and global challenges.
